Schönbrunn Palace is a must on any visit to Vienna and is still the number one attraction for many visitors! The magnificent Baroque palace, which served as the former summer residence of the imperial family, has a lot to offer and promises an unforgettable visit for the whole family. The impressive, originally furnished imperial state rooms and living quarters offer a very special insight into the lives of Maria Theresa, Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elisabeth.

Children can gain more interesting insights into the everyday life of the imperial family in the children's museum at Schönbrunn Palace: How did they dress? How was the imperial table laid? What was hygiene like? - all these questions are answered in a child-friendly way at the Children's Museum. At the various hands-on stations, children have the opportunity to learn about different topics such as education, fashion, food or hygiene in the 18th century. Another special highlight in the children's museum is the large costume corner, where children can dress up as princesses or princes.

The maze and labyrinth at Schönbrunn are definitely another highlight, covering an area of 2,700 m², inviting visitors to play games and puzzles and offering something for all ages.

Schönbrunn Zoo was built as early as 1752, making it the oldest zoo in the world. In 2022, Schönbrunn Zoo was named the best zoo in Europe for the sixth time. The zoo is home to more than 700 different animal species, including giant pandas, koalas, elephants and lions - an experience for the whole family!

By being embedded in the historic ambience of Schönbrunn Palace Park, the zoo demonstrates state-of-the-art animal husbandry and provides extraordinary insights into the animal world.

With an impressive collection of over 30 million specimens and artefacts, the Natural History Museum is one of Vienna's most prestigious, but also most popular museums. If you haven't had enough of Empress Elisabeth ("Sisi") and Co., you should definitely not miss a visit to the Sisi Museum in the Vienna Hofburg. Numerous personal objects of the Empress show the true personality of Sisi, who was often misunderstood. The individual rooms of the museum gradually show how the fascinating myth of "Sisi" came into being, which above all served as a model for the "Sissi" trilogies.

Children will be particularly interested in the guided tour of the Sisi Museum, which takes place regularly and takes the little ones through the Imperial Apartments of the Vienna Hofburg. In addition to discovering the private apartments of Empress Elisabeth and Emperor Franz Joseph, the little guests also have the opportunity to slip into princely garments at the end of the tour.

Austria's first immersive experience museum, which extends over three floors and offers over 1,100 m² of exhibition space, allows you to discover incredible things.

Jurassic is the first exhibition at IMMERSIUM:WIEN and is completely dedicated to dinosaurs. Here, families and friends can immerse themselves in fantastic worlds and experience the impossible! From the Brachiosaurus to the Mosasaurus to the Tyrannosaurus Rex, all known but also less known carnivores & herbivores are represented. In the ZOOM Children's Museum, young guests can go on a discovery tour in exhibition and studio rooms designed especially for children and explore topics from art, science and everyday culture in a playful way. In addition, the museum offers child-friendly play stations, objects, artistic installations and workshops that will awaken and encourage both the curiosity and creativity of the children. This provides the little ones with an ideal introduction to the museum world.

What makes the ZOOM Children's Museum special and thus also distinguishes it from other children's museums is the fact that ZOOM is much more oriented towards art and is also a place of interaction between children and artists.

On a total area of 1,600 m², the ZOOM Children's Museum offers guests a total of four different areas:

- ZOOM hands-on exhibition (children from 6 to 12 years).

- ZOOM Ocean play area (children from 8 months to 6 years)

- Workshop area ZOOM Atelier (children from 3 to 12 years)

- ZOOM Animation Studio (children and young people from 8 to 14 years)

In the summer, the Welt Museum is once again offering regular children's workshops. Children and their companions have the opportunity to take part in one of the numerous events until 1 September and can look forward to a colourful programme.

For example, the workshop "Pounamu Pounamu" will take place regularly, in which children will be confronted with the topics of plastic, waste and environmental pollution. The artist of the exhibition "Oceans. Collections. Reflections.", George Nuku, has created an incredible sky out of plastic bottles.
