Vienna State Opera – Tours & info
The Vienna State Opera is one of the most renowned opera houses in the world and a landmark of Vienna. With over 150 years of history, impressive architecture, and a program of the highest standard, it's a must-see for music lovers and visitors to Vienna.

The Vienna State Opera, one of the world's most important opera houses, was officially opened in 1869 with Mozart's Don Giovanni. The magnificent building on Vienna's Ringstrasse was designed by architects August Sicard von Sicardsburg and Eduard van der Nüll in the Neo-Renaissance style. Despite severe damage during World War II, the opera house celebrated its grand reopening in 1955 with Beethoven's Fidelio and has since become a symbol of Austria's cultural reconstruction. Today, the State Opera stages over 350 performances per year and delights visitors from all over the world with its high musical quality and impressive architecture.
