Around the Schönbrunn Palace, you can find many cafes and restaurants where you can try the best Viennese and international specialities, which you shouldn’t miss.

1. Café Residenz

The crowning glory of a visit to imperial Schönbrunn Palace is sitting down in a cosy corner of Café Residenz. Here you can taste all the typical dishes of the Viennese cuisine, such as Emperor Franz Joseph’s favourite dish Tafelspitz or the classic Wiener Schnitzel.

The café was opened in 1998 by the Querfeld family, who has also managed Café Landtmann since 1873. A major focus in its design were traditions of Viennese coffeehouse culture. You can enjoy this immaterial cultural heritage, as which the Vienna coffeehouse culture has been recognised, in the stunning surroundings under elegant chandeliers.
