Sisi Museum Hofburg

Take a look behind the myth of Empress Elisabeth and find out what "Sisi" was really like. Over 300 original exhibits, including clothing, jewelry, poems, records, and furnishings, bring visitors closer to the life and history of the empress. Beginning with her death, room by room, you will delve deeper and deeper into the world of the misunderstood empress. In the imperial apartments, you can see how Sisi and Emperor Franz Joseph once lived. Discover the bedroom, gym, dressing room, and many other historically authentic imperial rooms.

Imperial Treasury

The Imperial Treasury in the Hofburg Palace houses extraordinary treasures from the Habsburg heritage. These include the Austrian imperial crown and the crown jewels of the Holy Roman Empire, with the imperial crown and the Holy Lance. Equally impressive are the treasures of the Order of the Golden Fleece and parts of the Burgundian treasure from the 15th century. You will also discover legendary objects such as the agate bowl interpreted as the "Holy Grail" and the world's largest cut emerald. Jewelry belonging to Empress Elisabeth is also on display.

Imperial Crypt

The remains of around 150 members of the House of Habsburg rest in the Imperial Crypt (Kapuzinergruft). The current premises were created through various extensions and alterations over the centuries. Some sarcophagi were lost or damaged, so that some of the deceased had to be reburied in other coffins. However, the atmosphere remains authentic in terms of art history and the period. Sisi, Emperor Franz Joseph, and Crown Prince Rudolf are also buried in the crypt.
